John built his first radio in 1960 and has never stopped! He got his first guitar in 1962 and started destroying amps immediately. Then learned how to repair them. He received formal electronics training in the USMC, attending electronics schools for 2 years. After 20 years in the communications business, he finally combined his passions and started repairing pro audio equipment.
Now he is building guitar amps by hand, the way it used to be done, using point to point wiring and the best components available. Realizing that many engineers were involved in designing amps for Fender and Marshall, The Amp Shop's amps are reproductions of those companies' most popular models with minor modifications. He is not reinventing the wheel, just building them the way they should be built!
